Prayer is an important part of our
relationship with God.
Even if we spend only five minutes a day
praying, we are talking to God and through prayer we strengthen our faith.
All prayer should begin with the Sign of the Cross:
‘In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen’.
We should remind ourselves that we are in the presence of God.
Ideas for House Group Prayer
¨ Choose a prayer from this book that either the teacher or a pupil reads out or all pupils read together.
¨ Choose a theme (e.g. from the
section on Liturgical Seasons
and Feast Days or
from something happening at
school or on the news) and then say a
suitable prayer from this book and/or a
traditional prayer that everyone can join
in with e.g. Our Father, Hail Mary etc….
¨ Choose a story from the Bible and reflect on its meaning and then say a prayer from this book and/or a traditional prayer that
everyone can join in with.
¨ During October and May you could say a
decade of the rosary.
Lord Jesus, your friends said to you:
‘Teach us how to pray’.
We ask that you give us the fullness of your Spirit to help us to pray, so that we may grow in friendship with you.
