Religious Education

The RE department is at the heart of life at Bishop Walsh school. The development of the whole child is at the core of all we do as Catholic educators. Pupils are encouraged to strive to achieve academic excellence and our excellent examination results reflect the high standards of teaching and learning across the department.

Key Stage 3

Pupils study a rigourous Key Stage 3 curriculum which reflect the ‘Big Questions’ of life.

Key Stage 4

All pupils in Year 9 start their GCSE studies in RE following the EDEXCEL GCSE course in Religious Studies.

Key Stage 5

A Level is a popular option for those wishing to further their academic studies. Pupils explore the topics of Philosophy and Ethics. All sixth formers follow a diocesan approved General RE course.

Extra Curricular Information

Spiritual Growth and development of the whole child is central to the philosophy of the RE department. All pupils are offered the opportunity to reflect upon their faith, attend voluntary weekly mass, become involved in community projects and enjoy a programme of Spiritual retreat.
