Thinks Tank – Careers in Space

On Wednesday 22nd January a group of 30 year 10 pupils visited the ThinkTank to attend a careers event run by the National Space Agency. Pupils were lucky to attend some great talks and workshops from scientists about both their current research and also their career. For example, a psychologist presented about the effect of zero gravity on our brains and we learnt how satellite data can be used in a variety of ways. Pupils had the opportunity to talk to the scientists and ask them questions about their companies and also their career paths. A highlight of the day included some pupils being able to use a VR headset to experience what life on the International Space Station could be like and also see some equipment that people may use in space. Pupils were also given time to explore the galleries at the ThinkTank. Mr Prior and Mrs Marshall were very impressed by pupils’ scientific knowledge, enthusiasm and conduct during the day – well done year 10!
