The 16-19 Bursary: Supporting Students in their Educational Journey
As the new academic year commences, students at Bishop Walsh Catholic School can look forward to the opportunities that await them. For some, the path to success in education may come with financial challenges. However, thanks to the 16-19 Bursary, these hurdles can be overcome, allowing all students to focus on their studies and reach their full potential.
The 16-19 Bursary is a government-funded scheme aimed at supporting students in further education who face financial barriers. This initiative recognizes that financial constraints should not hinder any student from accessing opportunities to excel academically.
At Bishop Walsh Catholic School, we are committed to ensuring all students have equal access to a high-quality education. The 16-19 Bursary is an integral part of this commitment. It provides financial assistance to eligible students, helping to cover the costs associated with staying in education, such as transport, textbooks, equipment, and even examination fees.
To qualify for the 16-19 Bursary, students must meet specific criteria. These criteria take into account individual financial circumstances and other factors such as whether the student is in care, a care leaver, receives certain benefits, or has a disability. Eligible students can receive up to £1,200 per academic year, which can significantly alleviate the financial burden and provide the necessary support to succeed.
The application process for the 16-19 Bursary is straightforward. Students can obtain the necessary forms from Ms Rogers. Upon completion, the forms are reviewed by our dedicated bursary team, who carefully assess each application on an individual basis. Confidentiality is maintained throughout the process, ensuring privacy for all applicants.
We encourage all eligible students to take advantage of the 16-19 Bursary and access the support it offers. It's important to remember that financial challenges should never discourage the pursuit of education.
Hardship fund
Any student may apply for a one-off hardship payment from the discretionary bursary fund. You will need to provide evidence as to why you need financial support.
